Egg freezing allows women to preserve their own eggs for future pregnancy while they are young and healthy . Egg freezing can be beneficial for a number of reasons including :
- Women who are recently diagnosed with early stage of cancer e.g breast cancer.
- Women who are planned for chemotherapy or ovarian surgery for medical reasons ( which will reduce their ovarian egg reserve ).
- Women who want or need to delay childbearing in order to pursue educational, career or other personal goals.
- Women with objections to storing frozen embryos ( where sperm has been added to the eggs to create embryos ) for religious and / or moral reasons.
